There are three funds available through the Kelvin Valley & Falkirk LEADER Programme:

Main Fund: Open to community, voluntary and third sector organisations, charitable and public bodies. Applications to the main fund should fit with our Local Development Strategy (see documents page). Match funding will be required.

Farm Diversification and Rural Enterprise: The farm diversification scheme is open to farmers looking to diversify into non-farming activity and the small rural enterprise scheme is open to those setting up or expanding a rural business. Applications under the rural enterprise scheme should link to Theme 1 of our Programme: Heritage, Tourism and Leisure. Match funding will be required.

Co-operation Fund: This is open to applicants working across different LEADER areas, either in Scotland, the UK or in Europe. Applicants under the co-operation fund should discuss their project idea with the LEADER team directly before submitting an Expression of Interest.

STEP 3 – FOLLOW UP

The Expression of Interest process allows us to log your details on our system and to start a formal process, however in order to take your application forward we require some additional information such as your project timescales, match funding, project costs, project or business plan, etc. The LEADER team will assess your application for eligibility and against the priorities outlined in our Local Development Strategy.

STEP 4 – FULL APPLICATION

If you are invited to submit a full application, this involves completing an online form and providing a business/project plan.  You will be given additional feedback at this stage including your final deadline to make any recommended changes.  Your Final Application will have addressed any feedback given and must also include evidence of confirmed Match Funding for your project before it is submitted to the Local Action Group for consideration. The LEADER team will support you throughout this process.

STEP 5 – FUNDING DECISION

Your Final Application is presented to the Local Action Group at the next quarterly meeting for a decision to be taken. Your application will either be Approved, Rejected or Deferred and you will be notified of the decision shortly after the meeting.

We are very happy to answer any queries about the process or about Kelvin Valley & Falkirk LEADER at any time.

*We have experienced technical issues with submissions for Expressions of Interest. Please get in touch by email or phone once you have submitted your Expression of Interest to follow up on your submission status.

Application Deadlines and LAG Meeting Dates:

All applications to the LEADER Programme are assessed at a LAG meeting. These meetings take place quarterly. Expressions of Interest deadlines are usually twelve weeks prior to the date of the LAG meeting. The dates agreed for 2017 are as follows:

Thu 16th Mar Thu 13th Apr at 12 noon Tue 6th Jun
Fri 2nd Jun Wed 28th Jun at 12 noon Wed 30th Aug

Applications for a value under £10,000 may be assessed by a fast-track option. The LAG is currently developing the protocol for this and more information will be made available here.
