The Kelvin Valley & Falkirk
LEADER Programme 2014-2020
LEADER is a European Union Community Initiative which aims to promote economic and community development in rural areas. LEADER uses a bottom-up, partnership-based approach to rural development which will improve the quality of life and help make rural communities more sustainable.
The 2014-2020 Kelvin Valley and Falkirk LEADER Programme is a new programme covering rural areas within East Dunbartonshire, North Lanarkshire and Falkirk. The programme is managed by a Local Action Group (LAG), details of which can be found on the Local Action Group page.
A map of the eligible areas can be found here: KVF LEADER Area
Copies of our Local Development Strategy (LDS) and Business Plan can be found here
Eligible areas include the settlements of Croy, Kilsyth, Twechar, Torrance, Lennoxtown, Milton of Campsie, Kirkintilloch (north of the canal only), Banknock, Dennyloanhead, Bonnybridge, Denny, Fankerton, Dunipace, Airth, Slamannan, Shieldhill, Avonbridge, Whitecross, as well as linear assets including the Forth & Clyde and Union Canals, sections of the John Muir Way and the Antonine Wall.
Delivery of the Local Development Strategy will be achieved by supporting projects under our three priority themes:

The Programme also has a cross-cutting theme: Employability
We have a main fund and also two smaller funds for farm diversification and rural enterprise.
